The main characteristic of a curved pipe (elbow) under bending is the significant ovalization of its cross-section, which governs their response and influences their structural integrity. The present work presents the stress distribution and the flexibility of such elbows, which are used in industrial applications. The main load is bending (in-plane and out-of-plane). Pressure is also considered. Analytical solutions, derived elsewhere, are compared with the results from FE program ABAQUS, as well as the results from an in-house program (LeTuB), which employs special-purpose "tube" elements.
